ACT1 Theater is pleased to present Shakespeare’s

The Merchant of Venice

free in Wills Park. Performances will be in the Lion’s Pavilion on May 1, 2, 8, and 9 (outdoors – rain location will be the black box theater in the Alpharetta Art Center). Performances will be at 7:30 pm.
All performances are free to the public.

Note that director interviews will take place in December 2019 and auditions will be in February 2020.


Antonio, an antisemitic merchant, takes a loan from the Jew Shylock to help his friend to court Portia. Antonio can’t repay the loan, and without mercy, Shylock demands a pound of his flesh. The heiress Portia, now the wife of Antonio’s friend, dresses as a lawyer and saves Antonio.
